When you compare to its peers. Do you compare with sector or industry? And why

Yuval Taylor

Sometimes with sector, sometimes with industry, sometimes with subsector (in-between). It really depends on the factor. Some factors differ wildly from industry to industry (e.g. inventory, book value) and others are fairly consistent. I like to compare year-to-year growth within a sector rather than an industry, and most value ratios I compare to the industry.
